CITOM recommends non-renewal of 10 personnel

- R. Pareja/mit Jessica Ann

The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management will be recommending at least 10 CITOM personnel for non-renewal at the end of the month.

CITOM Executive Director and lawyer Rafael Yap said that these personnel who will not be recommended for renewal include those who were tested positive for shabu during the recent random drug testing and those who were tardy in their job.

Yap said that the start of renewal for casual workers will be on July. Most CITOM personnel are casual employees whose six-month contract will end on June 30.

Yap said he is not certain yet as to how many personnel he can hire to replace those who will not be renewed.

He said he has to consult with the Human Resource and Development Office first.

Six months ago, CITOM also did not renew some 12 personnel because of absenteeism, tardiness as well as administrative and criminal complaints against them.

They are among the over 100 casual employees of city hall who were not renewed so far this year.

City hall has over 2,000 casual employees who will undergo another evaluation by month’s end.

The department heads have been ordered to do their evaluation and submit the names of employees whom they want to be renewed and not.

The department heads’ recommendation will be reviewed by the HRDO for due process.

Yap said that the employees who were tested positive during the drug test and those who admitted that they are using drugs were placed on forced leave.

He said that if the HRDO has not terminated them yet, they will definitely be among the list of personnel recommended for non-renewal. —
