Twitter erupts after Pacquiao loss

-

MANILA, Philippines — Celebrities and fans alike turned to microblogging site Twitter following the upset that ended Pacman’s sevenyear winning streak.

Timothy Bradley snatched the WBO welterweight title from Pacquiao in a controversial split decision that left microblogging site Twitter bursting with trending topics regarding the match.

-Ten-time world champion Oscar dela Hoya gave some unsolicited advice to Bradley, who said he thought he won the fight and that Pacquiao isn’t as good as people think he is.

“Bradley should have given the belt and announce victory to Pacquiao right after the decision.”

-American actress Elizabeth Banks called the decision a robbery, with a tweet implying the “death” of boxing.

“So I take it Manny Pacquiao got robbed.”

-Singer Katy Perry said: “The whole world is disappointed just look at the TT. But we all know who really won!”

Amid serious tweets, parody accounts still found the time to sprinkle a bit of humor despite the general atmosphere of disappointment.

A statement from the People’s Republic of China read: “We are still proud of our boxer, Manny Pacquiao.” Facebuko.com said: “BREAKING NEWS: Sen. Drilon, hiniling ang SALN ng dalawang judges na pumabor kay Bradley. Maaari raw silang i-impeach.”

The discussion also turned to Pacquiao’s mother Dionisia and wife Jinkee, and their fondness for luxury bags. Rhap Salazar said: “No Hermes for Mommy Dionesia.. JANSPORT na lang ang bag nya :(“Joanna Navarro said: “no Hermes bag for mommy d and jinky. try ecobag for a change ;)” Mister Banatero said: “Mag BAYONG na lang si Mommy D at Jinkee. Diba? :)))))”

Promoter Bob Arum, who was also disappointed, said he “has never been ashamed of the sport of boxing.” Discussion now points to a possible rematch on Nov. 10.
