EFFECTIVE LEARNING THRU THE DIGITAL RISE PROGRAM

- MINA B. BATAC

“Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen," thus goes the mission statement of the Department of Education.

In line with this is the creation of the DepEd's Digital Rise Program, which is under the framework of the Office of the Undersecretary of Administration’s Public Schools of the Future.

This program aims to promote the DepEd’s digitization project that will support the needed requirements of the K-12 Curriculum to deliver quality, accessible, relevant and liberating education for all.

The success of this program lies on different skills development which will enable technological advancement.

Along with this is the empowerment training program in using ICT effectively in any type of learning environment which is the most essential ingredient in transforming the traditional practices of Philippine education.

The health crisis had plunged the Department into the use of technology, as well as the development of learning tools. Good thing that even before the pandemic, the Educational Technology Unit (ETU) was created to be the link between the curriculum and ICT to bridge the gap.

The Educational Technology Unit (ETU) has been instrumental in supporting the digitization and mobilization of instructional learning materials in the Department.

It likewise supports alternative ICT programs via Open Educational Resources (OER) to augment deliverables of supplemental lessons related to DRRM, health and wellness, youth formation, inclusive education, learners with special needs, alternative learning system, special programs, and the like.
