FILIPINO VS. KOREAN

-

Just recently, many netizens were “beastmode” with the misleading news – or rather FAKE NEWS – of Korean Language replacing the Filipino subject in the K to 12 Curriculum.

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Briones clarified that Korean Language is an elective, and not a replacement for Filipino. Other offered electives are classes in Spanish, French, Chinese, and Japanese.

Filipino will still be the medium of instruction for AralingPanlipunan and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao.

People were quick to bash this move of the Deped.

What made matters worse is when other subjects were also dragged to the issue through the biased comments of few netizens.

Some commented, “Bakit pa aalisin ang Filipino eh pweding Physical Education naman ang alisin?”

(Why remove Filipino subject when we can eliminate Physical Education instead?”

As expected, MAPEH majors were angered by this statement.

It is just ironic that most students are reading more contents from internet rather than reading their textbooks but still they manage to get their facts wrong instead of checking first if the source is reliable. The news was not even a fake news.

Comprehension problem, perhaps?

Anyway, let’s just hope that this move of DepEd will be of great help for our students, not only for their academic growth but also for their future professional growth.
