Balkman all psyched up to win the championship
Renaldo Balkman said winning Games 2 and 3 by lopsided margins is not an indication that the tide has turned in favor of the San Miguel Beermen.
That said, the Puerto Rican import keeps himself all-psyched up in his quest to complete his ultimate goal of capturing the PBA Commissioner's Cup crown.
Balkman displayed his typical all-around game despite suffering a cut on his left eyebrow to play a major role in San Miguel's stunning offensive outburst after a close first half that led to a 132-94 victory and a 2-1 lead for the Beermen in the Finals.
Despite posting the biggest winning margin in the best-of-seven series, Balkman refused to be carried away.
"I don't want to sound arrogant, we got to take it one game at a time," Balkman said after posting 28 points, 11 rebounds, five assists two steals and three blocks in Game 3.
"If we keep playing like that, I would get what I want. But at the same time, it's one game a time."
Getting two more wins will complete Balkman's triumphant return in the PBA after being banned for choking teammate Arwind Santos in 2013.
Though, he had already won a title with Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League last May, a PBA championship is something that Balkman so desperately aspires.
"It's the Finals and I want it real bad," he said. "I want the championship. This is what I want. I won in the ABL, but this would mean something to me."
Balkman is averaging 25.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.0 blocks through three games in the Finals.(JT) -
