PARENTS AND TEACHERS: BEST PARTNERS
JAN JAN C. LANSANGAN
Parents are said to be the first teachers of their children. While growing up, their parents teach and guide them in everything they do. They help them to grow disciplined and well-behaved at home and how to communicate well with respect to other people. Until children will be sent to school in order for them to be educated and prepare them to be independent, prepare them to be engaged and be knowledgeable at all things, and prepare them to be skilled and competent in the chosen field they want to be. To make this happen, it is important that teachers and parents should be partners in molding the characteristics and honing the values of children. Guiding children when they are growing up make them more prepared and responsible.
The role of parents in the physical and mental development of a student is truly beyond question. It’s not only confined within the safety and corridors of a home but also outside where the student must have much-needed support for psychological, financial and guidance needs. Other than these things, it is very important for a parent to get involved in activities sponsored by school authorities so that, he may be aware of what is happening in the school premises .The school’s growth and financial status involving raising of funds to finance projects has a lot to do with parents support, cooperation, and participation. We cannot rule out the fact that no institution for learning especially public one’s can improve or raise standards without the parents working hand in hand with diligent and reliable school officials and teaching staff.
If both parents and teachers have good partnership, not only the students can be improved holistically but also the learning institution where students molded their characteristics, honed their values and enhanced their knowledge, skills and talents. If school can be peaceful and conducive, it will run as an effective institution. Through parents and teachers partnership, we can assure better future of individuals and making the school as provider of quality education to produce quality learners.
