VM Lazatin urge Fernandinos to join fight versus dengue
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — This city’s Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin took cue from Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francis Duque III as he urged Fernandinos to be informed and help in the fight against dengue.
This as Lazatin took part if the awareness campaign of the Secretary in the city this week. The visit is part of the awareness campaign of the DOH regarding Dengue. Secretary Duque visited san Isidro Integrated School here with Lazatin and other local officials urging students, parents and teachers to keep surroundings clean. The visit was also aimed at discussing issues on immunization and recent issue on the dengue vaccines.
Lazatin urged local residents to practice cleanliness inside and out side of their houses as mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus thrive in wet and dirty places. He added that explained that the decline and resurgence trend in dengue cases can be attributed to awareness and intervention efforts by all stakeholders concerned.
Lazatin stressed the need of grassroots effort the importance of the formation of Dengue Task Force (DTF), composed of barangay captain, kagawad on health, school principal, Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and non-government organizations (NGOs) has been tasked to educate the village folks on how to combat the dreaded dengue fever.
DTF will also responsible in monitoring dengue cases in their areas and as well as searching for mosquito breeding grounds.
Lazatin added that the city government is always ready in assisting local effort against dengue, but he stressed that the need for cleanliness and vigilance starts at home and in the communities.
