DepEd-3 holds first school heads Dev’t program completion ceremony
10 best school application projects to be recognized
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A total of 1,597 public school heads shall receive their Certificates of Completion of the School Heads Development Program (SHDP) Foundation Course during the first Department of Education Region III SHDP Colloquium and Completion Ceremony to be held on October 26 at the LausGroup Event Centre.
As a highlight of this activity, the Best Application Projects will be awarded based on the results of the evaluation conducted by the Schools Division Offices and the Regional Office. The Best Application Project implementers will also receive cash prizes which shall go to the schools where the Application Projects were implemented. The cash prizes shall be used for school improvement relative to teacher/student development.
The winners of the Search for Best Application Projects of the 2016 School Heads Development Program (SHDP) are Aranguren Integrated School (Tarlac Province), Malpitic Integrated School (City of San Fernando), Sumacab Elementary School (Cabanatuan City), Kapalangan National High School (Gapan City), Tenejero Elementary School ( Bal an ga City), Dinadiawan Elementary School (Aurora), Dakila Elementary School), San Basilio National high School (Pampanga), San Andres Elementary School (Science City of Munoz), and Perez Elementary School (Meycauayan City).
The SHDP is a systematic competencybased educational leadership and management development program that aims to enable school heads to lead and manage K to 12 schools in the 21st century. It also aims to improve the capacity of the schools heads to manage their schools as well as prepare aspirants to handle the responsibilities of a school head. The program design is anchored on the National CompetencyBased Standards for School Heads ( NCBSSH) .
The 18-day training program is designed for new school heads, school heads who need training to be promoted as principal, and other candidates who are being considered for the position who do not have prior experience as a school head. It is a three-module course that covers the principal’s role in delivering the curriculum and core programs, managing school processes, strategic human resource management and development, fiscal management, partnership, and leadership. The 2016 SHDP Foundation Course was conducted on October 16-22 for Module 1, October 23-29 for Module 2 and November 6-13, 2016 for Module 3.
The requirements for a Certificate of Completion include complete attendance in the course and the implementation of an Application Project as proof of learning. The project requires the participant to identify a specific school concern that require improvement and that will deliver the best impact on school measures in three to six months. (Press Release)
