DPWH URGED: PUT WARNING DEVICES
Davao del Sur Provincial Police director Senior Superintendent Allan Manibog advises the Department of Public Works and Highways to place warning devices on accident-prone areas.
DAVAO DEL SUR - The provincial police office here urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to place warning devices on accident-prone areas for the safety of the riding public and motorists especially on roads under construction.
Senior Supt. Allan Manibog, police provincial director, also expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims of the traffic incident that happened on November 14, 2018 along the national highway of Davao del Sur which resulted to the death of six persons (two of them were children) and damage to property.
Manibog instructed all the chief of police in the 14 municipalities and one city in Davao del Sur to intensify the implementation of the RA 4136 or the Land Transportation Code of the Philippines to eliminate the not roadworthy vehicles and to discipline the drivers.
Authorities noted that there was an increasing road accident in the province and the victims were mostly motorcycle drivers.
Motorcycle drivers claim that some road construcrion in the province have no early warning devices especially at night.
With the upcoming celebration of the Yuletide, parties have started and more drivers are driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors.
“Drunk drivers must be apprehended because it is a violation of our traffic law,” Manibog ended.
