Law for more OFW benefits urged

-

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) urged Davao City Council to pass a resolution giving them more benefits, privileges and discounts in medical, dental, funeral, restaurants and lodgings.

“We appeal to all genuinely caring and concerned Davao City councilors to please come out with a resolution or city ordinance to provide benefits and privileges for OFWs,” Celerino Umandap, founder and chairman of the Advocates and Keepers Organization of OFWs Inc. (AKO OFW), said during the privilege hour of Councilor Pilar Braga last September 11, 2018.

Umandap also said that the city is the home of President Rodrigo Duterte who has been showing concern to the OFWs.

Meawhile, Braga said she will file a resolution as requested by the organization and assured them of her support. /
