Sara invited to grace second Tapang at Malasakit fun ride

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio has been invited to fire the starting gun of the Tapang at Malasakit 2nd Pagbabago Bike Fun Ride that was moved to April 1 from its earlier March 11 schedule.

Citywide Cycling Associatio­n of Davao (Cicad) chairman Salvador Paholio, Jr. bared this during Thursday's Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, adding that they expect the mayor to grace the event.

The bikefest is supported by the Solid Duterte Supporters Group (SDSG) D' Original Nationwide-Tapang at Malasakit Para sa Pagbabago Movement under Commission­er Mar Masanguid.

Paholio said, "Sa unang fun ride, niabot og 1,000 ka participan­ts pero basin madoble pa ni sa ikaduhang higayon (The first fun ride drew 1,000 participan­ts but this might double in the second edition)."

Riders will hit the road from Rizal Park San Pedro Street, Tomas Claudio (Qurino Avenue), to J.P. Laurel Avenue, Lanang to the Old Davao Airport rotunda in

Sasa then off to Lanang, R. Castillo St., Aurora Boulevard, Quimpo Boulevard, to Lions Rotonda in McArthur Highway, Matina, Bankerohan Bridge, right to A. Pichon Street (Magallanes) then back to Rizal Park.

The city government of Davao, he said, will donate porridge (lugaw) for all participan­ts at the finish line.

Registrati­on is free. Participan­ts, however, must fill up registrati­on forms to avail of raffle stubs.

Paholio, meanwhile, lauded the new guidelines of the Philippine National Games that opened a category for 16 years old and below riders aside from the 23-under category.

"Mas dako ang chance nato magmedal sa 16-under (We have more chance in winning medals in the 16-under event)," he added.
