46 brgy secretaries undergo training
ISLAND Garden City of Samal - Forty-six barangay secertaries underwent a two-day workshop on November 23 to 24, 2017 at Punta Del Sol Beach Resort, Catagman, Samal District in a bid to update their capabilities in their job.
The secretaries were given training on how to draft resolutions, ordinances, and minutes; overview on the Cybercrime Law and responsible social media use; and effective masters of ceremony .
“We conducted this seminar to hone your capabilities as Barangay Secretaries in executing plans and programs in your perspective barangays,” said Michael Anthony Homez of the Public Information Office, which spearheaded the activity.
As mandated by law, the functions and duties of secretaries are mainly clerical, which includes the preparation of resolutions, ordinances, and minutes after proceedings, grievances, and disputes that take place in the barangay hall.
Barangay secretaries actively participated in the training as they raised some issues of their barangay particularly on how to create ordinances and how to improve the implementation of rules and regulations in their respective barangays.
On the second day, lawyer Rogelio Largo tackled the Cybercrime Law, which emphasizes on how to be responsible in the use of social media especially in disseminating information and to be critical in the of news spread on social media.
Meanwhile, Michael Uy of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) discussed on how to be an effective masters of ceremony. the participants also had an actual practice on how to host to overcome their stage fright and boost their confidence.
