AUSTRALIAN Timothy James "Tim" Reed, a three-time Cebu Ironman men's champion, might be racing in the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao on March 25, 2018.

Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) officerin-charge Mikey Aportadera, in a Facebook chat yesterday, said, "(There's a) big possibility he (Reed) will race in Davao. He is part of the Alaska Triathlon Team, usually that team participates in IM (Ironman) races in the Philippines)."

The 32-year-old Reed recently defended his men's crown in the 2017 Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines with a time of three hours, 54 minutes and seven seconds in the 1.9-kilometer swim, 90K bike and 21K run race in Cebu.

Aportadera also said that celebrity triathlete Kuya Kim Atienza has signed up for the first-ever Ironman race in Mindanao that closed registration barely four days after it opened on October 1.

Organizers only limited Davao slots to 1,500. The bulk of the registrants, according to him in an earlier interview with Sun. Star Davao, comes from Mindanao although a good number are from other parts of the country and abroad.
