Record field in footfest

A total of 191 teams will vie for honors in the Davao-South Regional Football Associatio­n (DRFA)-organized 32nd Kadayawan Football Festival that will kick off tomorrow, Saturday, at the Tionko field in Davao City.

DRFA officer Rachelle "Ching" Delos Reyes, in yesterday's Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum held at the Annex of SM City Davao, said this year is the biggest ever, having a total of 80 teams entered in the grassroots level, 61 teams in the youth level and 50 teams in the men's and women's division.

"Mao ni ang pinakadagh­an ug entries sa tibuok nga Kadayawan Football Festival kay tungod sa bagong by-laws sa DRFA nga apilon na ang mga teams sa Davao Occidental (This is the biggest turnout in the history of the Kadayawan football festival due to the inclusion of Davao Occidental in the new DRFA by-laws)," Delos Reyes said.

The grassroots level covers the boys 12, girls 12, mixed 10, mixed 8 and mixed 6 categories while the youth level is divided to boys 17, girls 17, boys 14 and girls 14.

The men's and women's open also includes 35 years old and above (born 1982 and earlier).

The annual bootfest is a program of DRFA in partnershi­p with the Sports Developmen­t Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO).

Delos Reyes added that they want to accommodat­e all teams so they have opportunit­y to compete.

Teams from Tagum City, Maco, Maragusan, Koronadal City, General Santos City, Cotabato City, Malaybalay, Sultan Kudarat, Lupon, Montevista, Tacurong Ciyt, Mati City, Davao del Norte and Davao City will vie for honors ABM.
