Dole to hire 36 labor officers
THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) targets to hire 36 Labor Law Compliance (LLCO) officers nationwide after the approval of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
This act is in connection with the stricter implementation and monitoring of DOLE’s order against contractual employments. Since there are around 500 LLCO’s nationwide, Dole undersecretary Joel Maglunsod said this would not be efficient for inspection of around 937,000 business establishments nationwide.
Out of the 36 LLCOs to be hired nationwide, around two to three of these will be for Davao Region. The position is considered under Labor Employment Officers 3 which according to Maglunsod may have a salary grade reaching around P39,000 per month.
“Since this number may not still be enough, we continue training deputized officers coming from union, federations, non-government organizations, and even churches with advocacies towards workers,” said Maglunsod.
Last June 19 to 28, 2017, about 50 inspectors passed the pilot training conducted in Manila, all of them due for deputization. By August 1 to 11, same training will be conducted Mindanao-wide and around 60 participants coming from different areas in Mindanao are expected to join.
These participants will undergo four courses of trainings and examination before they can become full-pledged inspectors.
“These inspectors once deputized and approved, will accompany the regular regional inspection officers,” said Maglunsod.
