Kinesiology course set
UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) will host the "Kinesiology Sports Taping" Level I Instructor’s Course, a joint project of Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools, Incorporated (Masts, Inc.) and Masts Games and Management Committee slated July 20 to 22 at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in Barangay Obrero, Davao City.
Usep sports director Jose Alther Rivera, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said the three-day event is a licensing course that aims to train coaches, trainers, physical education instructors, dance instructors, sports and cultural directors in Mindanao on the principles and application of sports taping.
"The seminar was supposed to be held in Cagayan de Oro City but Masts, Inc. wanted to do it in Davao that’s why Usep grabbed the opportunity," Rivera said.
Rivera also said that Masts, Inc. has invited foreign accredited international lecturers and trainers of the International Taping Science Association (Itsa).
He, however, said that sports or athletic taping is a process of applying tape directly to the skin in order to maintain a stable position of bones and muscles during athletic activity.
It is also a procedure wherein tapes are used to physically keep muscles and bones at a certain position.
Registration is pegged at P5,000 which covers the accreditation fee, meals, snacks, kinesiology tape, kit and other operational expenses.
Rivera, meanwhile, urged coaches, trainers and sports leaders in Mindanao to participate in the event to make them more equipped in aiding injuries.
For pre-registration and confirmation, contact River in (0929) 176-68-69.
Onsite registration is also available during the event day.
Participants are advised to wear their sports/fitness attire during the training day. ABM
