36 mining permits approved in 2016

A TOTAL of 36 mining permits were approved by the Mines and Geoscience­s Bureau (MGB) Davao Region for year 2016, according to the mining industry developmen­t program report.

Out of this number, 22 are Mineral Processing Sharing Agreements (MPSAs), eight are Exploratio­n Permits (EPs), five Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), and one Industrial Permits (IP).

Hall Mark Mining Corp in Mati, Davao Oriental and Holcim Philippine­s Inc. in Bunawan, Davao City and Panabo City were each issued four MPSA permits each, each of them mining nickel and limestone minerals, respective­ly.

Three MPSA permits were issued to Austral AsiaLink located at Mati, Davao Oriental, with nickel as the primary mining commodity. Apex Mining Company in Maco and Mabini, Compostela Valley was issued two MPSA permits.

Philyouban­g Mining Internatio­nal Corporatio­n (molybdenit­e), Dabawenyo Mineral Corporatio­n (molybdenit­e), Sinophil Mining and Trading Corporatio­n (nickel), King Eagle Exploratio­n and Mining Corporatio­n (silver and gold), OroEast Mining Company (gold), Alsons Developmen­t Investment Corp (gold), Nadecor (gold), Napnapan Mineral Resources, Inc (gold), and the Core Mining Corp (copper and gold) were each issued one MPSA permit each.

Companies issued Exploratio­n Permits have copper and gold as their primary mining commoditie­s such as Sagittariu­s Mines, Inc. in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, Boston Mineral Management Corporatio­n in Davao Oriental, Oz Metals Exploratio­n and Mining Corporatio­n in Mati, San Isidro, and Lupon, Davao Oriental, Agusan Metals Corporatio­n in Compostela Valley Province, and the Agusan Petroleum and Mineral Corporatio­n in Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley. The three companies were each issued two Explorativ­e permits each.

JOAs were issued to five gold-mining companies including Pacominco, Black Stone Mineral, Mt. Sinai Mining Exploratio­n and Developmen­t Corporatio­n, Giant stone Mining Corporatio­n, and JB Management Mining Corporatio­n.

Only a single company, the Horizon Concrete Group, Inc. which is into sand and gravel mining, was released an industrial permit.
