Oil for well-being

- BY KARINA V. CAÑEDO

ESSENTIAL oils are commonly known as key ingredients in shampoo, perfume and other herbal products but its pure form, the unadulterated pure essential oil, can also be actually used to improve a person's well-being including emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects.

This idea was introduced to me by Winnie Fannon, a Singporean who had earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology and was certified in Clinical Aromatheraphy, whom I happened to meet after she was introduced to me by a friend.

Fannon came here in Davao City last February 16, 2017 to speak before the participants of a seminar-workshop about the use of aromatherapy using essential oils for holistic benefits: physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of a person.

Upon our conversation, Farron informed me that she started using these oils four years ago after she gave birth to her daughter as it was introduced to her and she’s been using it since.

Through constant personal use of these oils, Fannon said that she can attest that essential oils allowed her to be more “present”.

“There are specific oils for every kind of use, and the oils help me become myself and some oils remind me to be my younger self - carefree without inhibitions,” she said.

Fannon described using essential oils as like “being touched by God” since inhaling it can bring relaxation, peace, increased concentration and attention span, and it also facilitates spiritual energy to assist in your prayers and meditation.

“Essential oils can also assist with respiration, cardiac activity, digestion, and both physical and mental activit[ies],” she said.

Fannon said that essential oils also affect emotions and can cultivate emotional and psychological wellness.

“They can be used to access long lost memories of distant traumas that may have happened years ago, that you may have forgotten. By resurrecting such traumatic memories, one can resolve them and heal any physical imbalances that are results of these repressed memories. Daily exposure to essential oils cannot only help dig into the past and resolve old issues,

they can also prevent you from accumulating new issues in the present,” Faron said.

Farron said that essential oils are basically the blood and life of plants hat are extracted hrough steam disillation, preserving he therapeutic and healing components of plant without any additions of harmful chemicals or additives.

And this is also he reason why it is so effective in many ways.

She also said these oils last long because of its pure origin.

She also added that you can use the oils through diffusing it in the air and inhaling them.

Essential oils have inherently strong smell that are different from each other and Fannon added tha she is excited to know more about the benefits of the oil by exploring more and more uses of its kinds.

“Right now I am still in a journey,’ Fannon said.

She said that she wants to share her knowledge to people because she also wants others to be also whole, positive, active individuals through the use of essential oils.
