Tablet-aided enumeration in Listahan’s 2nd round
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Davao Region through National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahan is set to conduct its first tablet-aided enumeration in identified poverty areas in Davao City on July 30.
Carmela Duron, public information officer for DSWD-Davao, said the use of the tablet for the data collection is among the bureau’s innovations for their second round of assessment in Barangay 23-C at Isla Verde and Barangay Matina Aplaya.
Duron added that the office purchased 400 tablets that will be used by their enumerators in highly-urbanized areas while those enumerators assigned in rural areas will continue to gather information from the households using pen and paper.
The enumerators or field personnel will use tablet computers during the information gathering, asking questions and filling out questionnaires or electronic assessment forms for poor families.
They will visit areas identified as pockets of poverty in 9,997 urban barangays nationwide in the second Listahan.
“The use of the tablet devices will hopefully expedite the assessment process in urban areas since enumerators could automatically sync accomplished electronic family assessment forms (FAF) directly to the server. The area supervisors will re-interview the households to
check the consistency and accuracy of the information gathered first,” Duron said.
She also said that to ensure the quality of the information that will be sychronized to the server, the Listahanan installed validation routines to its mobile application that will show an error message whenever enumerators encode inconsistent and incomplete data.
