PEOPLE’S response on voter’s validation and registration seemed a wild fire when it star ted last May 6, 2014.

Trucks loaded with people including those from hinter barangays were brought to the Commission on Election Of fice at Magsaysay Park.

The Comelec of fice is also open even on Sundays to give time to those who are free from work to visi t their of fice to register and validate.

The scenario has changed and apathy is felt in Comelec where ver y few come for said purpose t wo months af ter i t star ted.

“Comelec is even thinking to stop the Sunday registration because of the lukewarm response of the people,” Election Of ficer for 2nd District At t y. Danilo Cullo said.

Records from the 2nd District Of fice of Comelec showed 1,390 new registrants, 357 had corrections, reactivation 84, transferee 847, multiple 116 and validation or biometric 1,437. There are more than 110,000 voters in second District who need to validate their record as of yesterday.

Cullo said they star ted going to barangays instead of staying in their of fice during Sundays.

“Daghan ang nag parehistro sa barangay (More people register in the barangays)” Cullo said.

Election Assistant Of ficer for Third District Toto Delfin said 62,326 voters need validation in 3rd District. So far only 745 went to their of fice and had biometrics. The distance is hindering people from going to their of fice unlike in the past when people were hauled to register with food provision especially if a local or national selection was coming.

Comelec of ficials, meanwhile, remind those who were not able to vote in the past t wo consecutive elections to validate their registration, other wise, they will be blot ted out from record.

Cullo also ur ged barangay of ficials to set schedule at least t wo weeks ahead if they want to have the satellite registrationg done in their barangays.

Voters registration and validation will run until October 2015. But let’s register before the deadline. It’s better to be early than sorry.
