Police report only one Undas-related crime

-

SAN Pedro police recorded only one Undas-related incident within its area-of-- responsibility.

Chief of the San Pedro police station Supt. Joel Con- sulta told Sun.Star Davao in a phone interview yesterday that a mauling incident at the Wireless Cemetery took place at around 12 p.m.

The victim was identified as Gleen Milay, 27, of Bankerohan while the suspect was only identified as alias Richie.

“May misunderstanding lang sa dalawa and nagkainitan sila. Bigla na lang pinalo ng suspect gamit ang isang molded concrete cross (The two had a misunderstanding and they had a heated altercation. The suspect suddenly attacked the victim using a molded concrete cross.)” Consulta said.

The victim was treated by a crew from Central 911 while the suspect fled to unknown direction.

Consulta, however, noted that, apart from the incident, All Soul’s Day in the city was generally peaceful, particularly in major cemeteries and memorial parks, such as Wireless Cemetery, Orchard Road Memorial Park, Forest Lake Cemetery and San Pedro Memorial Park.

“The visitors are very cooperative as they willingly surrender the prohibited things inside the cemeteries. Our police officers also check the water containers of the visitors because some might transfer their liquor in other containers,” Consulta said.

He also noted the efficiency of the police deployment in the different cemeteries as police have strengthened its visibility in the cemeteries.

“We have already assigned police officers who are conducting foot patrol while we also have personnel who will be on standby at the police assistance desk. There are also cops wearing civilian attire who will go undercover,” Consulta said.

The police officers are deployed in the different cemeteries until November 3. Police personnel will be serving in a 24-hour shifting basis.
