Bartolo, Miranda top ‘Takbo’
ELMER Bartolo and Judelyn Miranda bested their respective rivals to capture the 10K titles of the 1st Takbo Para sa mga Atleta fun run held in an out-andback course from Jaltan Magallanes on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Bartolo checked in at 32 minutes and 20 seconds to race past Gilbert Maluyo (33:29) of Kidapawan City and Michael Jan Echalico (33:25) of Toril who finished second and third, respectively.
Tagum City native Miranda, for her part, clocked 43:45 to beat Mona Liza Ambasa of South Cotabato (43:47) who settled for the runner-up honors and 19year-old Celie Rose Jaro (43:50) who placed third in women’s 10K event.
Jimboy Lugay and Diana Mae Memoracion annexed the 5K titles. Brokenshire College mainstay Lugay timed 16:04 over Erwin Gubal’s 16:18 and Michael Barrosa’s 16:25. Memoracion (19:20) finished ahead of Toril-based Creselyn Jaro (19:23) and Ruffa Sorongon (19:26) who wounded up in the next two spots.
The 3K titles went to Jessmar Lopez of Brokenshire and Rosenelyn Depillo of Toril.
The biggest school delegation was San Roque District while Team Titans Davao bagged the biggest club/ company delegation award of the footrace organized by the Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative.
Winners received cash prizes in the event that aims to raise funds for underprivileged athletes.
DCSCC chair Salvador Paholio Jr. was happy with the turnout of their first undertaking held in celebration of the Cooperative Month.
