Demecillo ready for regional title fight

-

Carlo Demecillo is ready for the next level after an impressive knockout win Wednesday night.

“He just needs a few tweaks but I believe he’s ready for a regional title fight,” Demecillo’s coach Christopher “Ping-Ping” Tepora told SunStar Cebu.

“He showed a very impressive performance.”

The 21-year-old Demecillo tagged the elusive Margaito Moya with vicious right uppercut to the body that sent him down and out in the seventh round of their Visproba bantamweight title fight in the main event of “Bakabakan sa Catmon 2” at the Catmon Sports Complex.

Demecillo won his second straight fight since being signed under the Big Yellow Promotions banner.

He has won his fourth straight fight and improved to 10-4 with four knockouts.

Moya dropped his third and dropped down to 9-5 with three knockouts.

Demecillo may be given a regional title fight in either of the four major world boxing sanctioning bodies.

“He’ll rest for a week and then we’ll be back in the gym,” said Tepora.

Allan Villanueva (8-0-1, 6 KOs) kept his unbeaten slate with close unanimous decision win over Jason Tinampay (8-8-1, 7 KOs) in the show’s main supporting bout.

The scores were 77-75, 77-75 and 75-77 in favor of Villanueva.

In the undercard, Raymond Yanong (9-3-1, 8 KOs) knocked out Eddie Estibat (3-6, 3 KOs) in the opening round, Audie Dacua (2-0, 1 KO) beat Rolien Getalada (0-5-1) by unanimous decision, Rhonvex Capuloy (10, 1 KO) had an impressive pro debut with a third round technical knockout of Johnrey Espinosa(0-3) and Eric Pulgo (3-0-1, 2 KOs) knocked out newcomer Marjun Bato in a single round.
