Coming up with practical projects

Ido believe we need improvements to become a better tourist destination, but we fail to see what tourists want to see. I was born in a country where we depended on tourists for a living and infrastructures were PLANNED and not just put in place to spend the budget. In Hawaii, we have up to six-lane highways but only where we need them.

The country is left country because this is what the tourists want to see, tree lined roads, natural sites, and old towns, not concrete roads.

Our projects, if you come from Cebu City to the north, are third class and unfinished.

Where are the people from the Department of Public Works and Highways who are responsible for these projects?

We have first- class money paying for thirdclass jobs and I guess this is supposed to be acceptable?

I have worked in the construction business for more than 30 years and there are things here I can see that is not correct like cracked concrete roads, paving in the rain, letting contractors pile-drive from the top of a bridge (100-ton crane on top of a 20-ton capacity bridge), unfinished drains and roads, we can go on and on.

Let’s use our hard-earned tax money for projects that have use and value to all instead of wasting it on four-lane highways and drains we will never ever use. WE SHOULD USE MORE ON EDUCATION SO WE CAN PRODUCE PEOPLE WITH COMMON SENSE AND HONESTY.-- Alfred Acopan
