PINAY LANDS ROLE IN ‘HAMILTON’

-

International stage actress Rachelle Anne Go is joining the cast of the most popular musical of the moment, Hamilton, in its West End production.

Early this week, Go took to Instagram to share a photo of herself, posing with Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda. She simply captioned the snap: “So, Lin Manuel. #HamiltonWestEnd #HamiltonLDN.

“Aahh, Hamilton is a dream! Thank you all for your LOVE. I woke up crying today because of so much joy. To GOD be the glory,” Go also tweeted.

Go is a familiar face in West End, London’s version of Broadway in New York. She had been awarded as Best Featured Actress in the West End Awards for her role as Gigi in Miss

Saigon— a role she will be reprising in Broadway come March 1. She also played Fantine in Les Miserables.

In Hamilton, Go will play Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton, whom the play is about. This means that Go’s role is a major one.

The person to play the role of Alexander Hamilton is yet to be announced but fans in London are hoping Miranda himself will play the part, even for just a limited run.

Go will be joined by fellow Filipina Christine Allado, who will play Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.

“Can’t even express how happy and grateful I am to be joining the original London cast of Hamilton: An American Musical as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds,” Allado announced on Instagram. The casting of the two excited Broadway veteran Lea Salonga, who congratulated Go and Allado via Twitter. Go, though, would have to leave the Broadway production of Miss Saigon by August, reported Broadway.com, in order to make it in time for the Hamilton rehearsals. The West End production will start previews in November and will officially open on Dec. 7, reported Newsweek magazine.
