It took less than 10 minutes for organizers of the All-Women’s Ultramarathon (Awum) to sell out all the 300 slots for the sixth edition on March 11 at the Il Corso grounds in South Road Properties.

The number hit 300 about eight minutes after the online registration opened yesterday, breaking the previous record of 250 entries in 26 minutes last year.

One of the organizers, Tony Galon, said that he was shocked when he saw the number of entries and how it reached 300 in just minutes.

“We did not think that the slots will be sold out this fast, we even added 50 more for this year. We reached 300 entries in just eight minutes and nine seconds,” said Galon.

Awum is a 50-kilometer race exclusive for women that started in 2012 with 150 participants. The organizers kept on adding slots until they hit 250 last year, which was supposed to be their last. They decided to revive it this year and added 50 slots.

The organizers will be sending a confirmation email to the first 300 registrants after 24 hours with the instruction on how to complete the registration process.

“This will be the first time that the start and finish will be in one venue. We want the lady runners to focus on the race and just enjoy it,” said Galon.

The event, organized by Think Tank, is part of the celebration of Women’s Month in March.

Last year, Preciosa Sanchez won the race, while training partner and 2015 champion Sandra Soliano placed second and Daisy Batac placed third. /
