POWERHOUSE Don Bosco Technologi­cal Center added two more trophies in the final day of the 5th Sun.Star Cebu Football Cup, while Sacred Heart SchoolAten­eo de Cebu beat rival St. Theresa’s College anew at the Cebu City Sports Center.

DBTC, which won the Mixed Under 9 and finished second in the Boys Under 17 division, won the Under 13 and Under 19 titles late Sunday night.

DBTC A beat sister team DBTC B, 1-0, in an all-Bosconian final to win their second title for the day, while DBTC B returned the favor against the University of San Carlos-Basic Education, 1-0, to win the Boys Under 19 title a day after losing the Boys Under 17 title.

In the Boys 13 division, Don Bosco A ran through their group stage assignment­s undefeated, beating the University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban, 13-0, Paref-Springdale, 2-0, and St. Theresa’s College, 2-0.

In the quarterfin­als, Don Bosco A scored another clean sheet against Lahu Elementary School, 3-0, and then blanked Giuseppe FC A, 2-0, in the semis.

The team, made up of Cyril Calo, Renzo Javier, Fernandez Leonel James, John Carlos Vitualla, MVP Vaughn York Pacana, Ernest Gabriel Berongoy, Gian Custado, Simon del Campo and Kamil Amirul, scored 25 goals in six matches and did not concede a single goal.

In the Boys 19 division, DBTC also didn’t concede a single goal all tournament long to win their third title of the 5th Sun.Star Football Cup.

Don Bosco topped Group 1 with nine points on wins against CIS, 2-0, Lycans FC, 4-0 and Divine Luxury, 3-0, while USC got the second wild card after finishing third in Group 2 with a 1 win, 2 loss record.

In the quarterfin­al round, Don Bosco blanked Silver Hawks, 2-0, while USC edged HSA Alegria, 1-0. In the semifinals, Don Bosco beat CIS, 1-0, while USC beat USPF, 1-0.

In the finals, a handball by USC early in the game led to an early penalty and goal by Don Bosco, which kept the lead for the win.

Frtiz Brigoli was named the MVP. His teammates are Joseph Ceniza, Christian Jubac, Erich Orale, John Vituall, Miguel Mercader, Jeremy Laro, Gyric Ventolero, Kyle Robles, Ron Tiampong, Harvey Gadungog, Vic Felicilda and Joshua and Justin Genson.

In the Girls 17 division, Itsuko Bacatan won the MVP award after leading SHS-Ateneo A to a 2-0 win over STC A in the finals.

Ateneo blanked Giuseppe FC, 4-0, in the semis, while STC beat Ateneo B, 1-0, in the other semis.

The other members of the Ateneo team are Peeve KC Layague, Arantxa Trebol, Shadinne Pepito, Katrina Rodriguez, Trisha Marie Yu, Regine Nicole Chua, Roselle Zanoria, Judd Sydney Gonzales, Trishi Fortuna, Yoojin Kim and Alexandrea Gumilao. ML
