Valley okays 2018 budget
THE LA TRINIDAD Municipal Council approved its P345 million 2018 budget.
With an increase of
P45.2M or 15 percent from the current budget of P300 million, 56 percent will be allotted to general public services while 25 percent was earmarked to the local disaster risk reduction management and municipal development fund.
“With the increase, there will be more projects funded for the communities. We can sustain and strengthen implementation of the existing projects and activities,” said Councilor Roderick Awingan.
Awingan said aside from the general public service, the town has also appropriated funds for personal services includes the creation of 16 new positions in the different departments. The remaining was set aside for the maintenance and other operating expenses of the municipality.
With revenue-generating measures, the municipality expects to maximize generation of income from the economic enterprise of the municipality namely the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading post, the public market and the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant.
“Hopefully, they will operate on their own and whatever they derive from their operations be applied for the improvement of their assets and any excess be transferred to the General Fund,” noted by the Department of Budget and Management.
Chair on committee Health Councilor Horacio Ramos said for next year a huge amount was also allocated for the Municipal Health Service Office and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
