OFFICES OF THE FUTURE
The pandemic has redefined the way we work. While offices remain necessary to accommodate the operations of companies, many of these were forced to become flexible to meet new normal requirements. They also have to be adaptable and sustainable more than ever.
Fortunately for us in the Philippines, new offices are continuously being developed. With designs bearing the mark of some of our country’s most established developers, we can be assured of quality work that hints at great investment returns.
Let’s take a look at two of these upcoming offices—The Galleon in Ortigas Center and The Glaston Tower in Ortigas East. Both developed by Ortigas Land, these two new projects exemplify the future workspaces that are set to thrive in the new normal.
THE GALLEON
Officially launched in 2019, The Galleon is strategically located in the only mixed-use development inside the Ortigas central business district. This means that the project features office, residential and retail spaces all within one contained complex. This setup is ideal in the postpandemic world as it limits the travel needs and provides the basic essentials of its users.
Traditionally, office buildings were built to cater only to work. With the new normal in our midst, however, flexibility has become an important requirement. The Galleon’s layout meets this need as it offers an open area per floor, which can easily be divided into 14 different offices with at least 75 sqm per company. With the building offering 31 levels of office space, tenants have a choice when it comes to their preferred spaces— Glass Suite, Glass Unit, Prime Suite, Prime Unit, and the premium Penthouse Suite.
A total of 15 lifts have been incorporated within the building, with 12 of these allotted for daily passengers. This feature will help alleviate foot traffic in elevators and thus encourage social distancing.
Lastly, communal gardens are located within the vicinity. With its built-in seating and lush landscaping, this amenity is a true gem in a concrete-filled cityscape.
THE GLASTON TOWER
For those looking to work in emerging business hubs, The Glaston Tower offers promising potential in a green environment.
Consisting of 25 office floors, the building is strategically located along C5 Road. It is the first office building to rise in Ortigas East, an “eco-estate” by Ortigas Land. Designed with sustainability in mind, The Glaston Tower is in the running for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
While primarily an office building, the tower will be connected to a regional mall and a residential building. The offices will also have access to open spaces and parks within the Ortigas East complex. A hotel is also in the works in the immediate area.
While designed to cater to luxurious standards, the business space will be a primary model for eco-efficient offices. It will also feature 15 elevators, eight levels of podium parking, and two levels of basement parking. This project is poised to become a leading work venue in the new normal as it provides a good balance between accessibility and sustainability.
EXPLORING NEW WORK SPACES
As we gradually ease back to our prepandemic routine, there is a need to accommodate the new requirements of the future. With offices such as The Galleon and The Glaston Tower, we can be assured that our pursuit for progress will remain safe and comfortable. Designed with the new normal and beyond in mind, these quality projects by Ortigas Land are poised to set the standards when it comes to new office design.
