At a certain point in our lives, we ask ourselves: Where do I see myself living in the coming years? It is a simple yet important decision to make since it will help us determine how and where we would want our future to take shape.

Choosing an ideal residence depends on factors such as location, cost of living and culture of an area. However, its end purpose is to provide a homeowner with a dwelling wherein he or she can live comfortably. In the Philippines, one Visayan city is renowned for its ability to provide its citizens and guests with cozy lifestyles. It’s none other than the “City of Smiles,” Bacolod City.

At a glance, Bacolod in Negros Occidental may seem slow paced, but this is due to the fact that essential locations such as hospitals, malls and grocery stores are always easily accessible, and traveling from one location to another in the city is convenient because road traffic is light. These factors, in turn, create an enthralling impression that time moves slowly. Everything necessary can be done so quickly, enabling residents to muster up more free time just for exploring and enjoying their day.

More so, Bacolod is surrounded by landforms and bodies of water perfect for various opportunities, such as investing in agri- or aquaculture businesses as well as seeking out leisurely activities like sunbathing on the beach or having coffee with friends on the mountains. Overall, there are endless possibilities for one’s day in Bacolod due to the surroundings and the ease of traveling to these locations.

Even with the evolving landscape and booming economy of Bacolod, some authentic spots have endured, that to this day continue to offer experiences that distinguish the city from the rest. Bacolod’s appeal can be found in various aspects, from its food to its people to its festivities, and so much more.

Bacolod cuisine is the city’s biggest selling point since residents and guests can enjoy a wide selection of dishes. Foodies can enjoy the traditional fare like the famous Bacolod chicken inasal, seafood dishes by the beach or delicacies from food startups. Not to be outdone are the local desserts. Bacolod offers diverse savory options at an affordable price.

In addition, Bacolod locals are some of the friendliest and most accommodating people in the Philippines. Bacolodnons are approachable when acquainting with new people and, at the same time, speak with a unique tenderness that endears other people to them. With these traits, it is not difficult for newcomers to establish relationships with the residents.

Lastly, Bacolod is home to the MassKara Festival, a colorful event enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. The annual celebration that gathers millions showcases the city’s spirit and prosperity. With these aspects, one can also attribute Bacolod’s allure to its warm, holistic and accommodating culture.

At present, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many Bacolod residents. However, it is through these challenging times that the true essence of the city comes in full view. Bacolod’s ambiance has always provided a sense of peacefulness, in which the simplest experiences allow people to find comfort.
