Interactive, Instagrammable museum highlights PHfood, attractions
Philippine attractions, regional livelihood, culinary experiences and colorful Philippine festivals with a twist all converge at the newly opened Lakbay Museo at S Maison in Conrad Manila, SM Mall of Asia complex.
A project of the Millennial Concept Factory Inc., Lakbay Museo highlights the revival of Filipino identity, culture and tradition as part of the group’s advocacy to encourage and educate Filipinos to experience and preserve the country’s heritage.
The museum aims to nurture patriotism among the young generation, and is a guide for foreign tourists.
Lakbay Museo has 11 interactive landmark destinations like Tondo’s streets, Vigan’s Calle Crisologo, the Ivatan House of Batanes, Pahiyas Festival, the Rice Terraces and Ifugao house, Barasoain Church, Magellan’s Cross, the Sto. Niño Shrine, Mayon Volcano, Marine Biodiversity, and Mindanao Royal House.
There’s also an exhibit of festival dances and costumes, as well as dioramas of regional livelihood and local products.
In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), this millennial museum concept will provide 189 micro, small- and medium-scale enterprises market access to their products. Lakbay Museo was built on the foundation of environment conservation, with nearly all of the exhibits constructed using scrapped and recyclable materials. The museum also provides job opportunities to out-ofschool youth, nonprofessionals, local artists, disabled persons, and senior citizens.
Entrance tickets bought online are P699 each (add P100 for walk-ins) and come with 12 chips, which can be used to buy items in the palengke. Tours starts ever 15 minutes.
