Santoni goes back to its founder’s artisanal roots
Progressive aesthetic, looking to the future but armed with the knowledge of tradition. Since its creation in 1975, Santoni pursued its vision refining the cultural heritage of craftsmanship and Italian excellence. Born with the creation of the haut de gamme shoes laboratory by Andrea Santoni, the brand’s legacy has been handed to his son Giuseppe.
The Santoni men’s collection defines a new urban grammar, faithful to highly artisanal DNA of the brand yet immersed in the urban setting. Shapes are bold, with geometric cuts and massive soles. The taste for precious materials and the painstaking attention to detail are the unifying element. Acknowledging the everchanging multiplicity of metropolitan life, the collection is a mix of stories ranging from re-though formality to sportswear, breaking up and mixing up categories and functions.
Even its hiking boots, Santoni was able turn into an accumulation of precious skins, while its new iconic Clean sneaker is presented in a fur-lined version. Polished toes characterize the sturdy lace-ups, while asymmetric color effects and bold fringes land an off-kilter allure to derbies. Formal, tapered styles are defined by prismatic cuts; massive soles give double monkstrap styles an air of absolute lightness. Laces disappear. Elastic inserts are both decorative and functional. The morphing of categories is evident in the new sneaker model called the Dip, which combines elegance and performance, formality and informality.
The color palette for Santoni’s latest collection is dense and masculine - black, brown, burgundy, deep blue with touches of caramel, using precious materials like brushed calfskin, crocodile, patent leather, aged calfskin with glossy finishes.
