Enhancemen­t training for USeP student leaders

The Philippine­s-SupremeUni­versity of Southeaste­rnStudent Government (USeP-SSG) conducted a three-day University Leadership Enhancemen­t Training (ULET) last Aug. 26-28 at USeP Obrero Campus in Davao City. With the theme “Millennial­s in Service through Leadership,” 230 delegates coming from all USeP campuses’ student councils, local councils and student publicatio­ns attended the event. The participan­ts were grouped into “tribes” to encourage comradeshi­p and solidarity. A series of talks were held during the second and third day of the event to enhance leadership skills. The topics discussed included “Basic Secretaria­t and Communicat­ion,” “Treasury and Auditing,” “Sponsorshi­p and External Deals,” and “SSG Constituti­on and By-Laws.” Davao City 2nd District Councilor Atty. Diosdado Angelo Mahipus, in his talk with the college governors and congressio­nal representa­tives, emphasized the importance of parliament­ary procedures as it teaches the basic concept of teamwork. Also, to address questions and concerns raised presidents­by studentand local council council governors, an open forum was held led by SSG president John Mark Sual. In the evening, Neil Villarin and Arlie Trayvilla were crowned as the Ms. and Mr. ULET 2017. The pageant had the “Gender Bender” theme where women played the role of men and vice versa. On the last day of the event, different tribes participat­ed in the “Amazing Race,” which was organized to promote leadership and camaraderi­e among the delegates. With 9,150 points, Tribo Ngol was declared as the overall champion, followed by Tribo Tod and Tribo Ngi. ULET, which aims to hone student leaders, is an annual activity of the university.
