T.I.P. is one of PRC's Outstanding Blood Services Partner 2016
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) awarded the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) as "Outstanding Blood Services Partner of the Year for 2016" during the organization's Blood Donors Recognition Ceremony held on July 29, 2016 at the PRC Multipurpose Hall in Mandaluyong City. Receiving the award on behalf of T.I.P. was T.I.P. Board Member and Board Oversight Officer for Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Antonio U. The recognition ceremony honored 1,876 donors and supporters of PRC's blood program, including T.I.P. as one of the only seven organizations recognized by PRC for its "highly distinguished service in the promotion of the PRC voluntary blood donation for more than 10 years."
With the participation of the whole school community, T.I.P. has actively organized blood donation drives for more than 30 years already, with an average of 1,000 bags collected annually. From 1962 to 2016, the school has been able to collect more than 73,000 blood bags, almost equivalent to 26 million cc. Up to now, T.I.P. continues to support the PRC blood program and be of service to many Filipinos.
Joining T.I.P. as awardees for Outstanding Blood Services Partner were Landbank of the Philippines, Sunlife of Canada, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Bombo Radyo, Elizabeth Seton School, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 1021, dated June 9, 1997, and the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the National Blood Services Act of 1994, the month of July has been designated as National Blood Donors Month.
