DLSU to hold ‘Encounters in Literature: Writers in Conversation’
THE DE La Salle University will be holding “Encuentros en la literatura/Encounters in Literature: Writers in Conversation” on Nov. 11, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the European Documentation Centre, 13th Floor Henry Sy Sr. Hall, DLSU Manila. This exciting literary event will feature prize-winning Filipino fictionists Carla Pacis and Eros Atalia, and acclaimed Spanish novelist Luisgé Martín. Esteemed fictionist Timothy Montes will serve as host. The conversation will be on the craft of writing and the work of the imagination. The “Encuentros” program showcases a series of interactions and fora between writers of diverse cultures. It seeks to serve the local community’s cultural life through activities that contribute to the dynamic production of literary writing and the vibrant exchange of creative practices between cultures. Pacis is well-known for her books for young adults and children, and creative nonfiction. She teaches literature and creative writing at DLSU and serves as associate director of the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center since 2011. Atalia is popular for his entertaining works of fiction with deep, humorous insights into the quotidian. He is a columnist for Pilipino Mirror and teaches at UST’s Faculty of Arts and Letters. Martín is the venerated author of “La mujer de sombra” (The Woman in Shadow, 2012), a novel of psychological depth. He works as a columnist in various Spanish periodicals such as El Viajero, Babelia, El País, and Shangay Express. The “Encuentros” is organized by (BNSCWC) in partnership with Instituto Cervantes de Manila. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
