SEI celebrates silver anniversar­y

A NUMBER of activities on Sept. 19 will cap the 25th anniversar­y celebratio­n of the Science Education Institute (SEI).

The science and technology human resources developmen­t agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will showcase its achievemen­ts and future directions in promoting science education in the country.

Theme of the celebratio­n is “Enabling the Next Generation through Innovation­s Science Education.”

To promote its silver anniversar­y in social media, SEI will give a cash prize to the 2,500th and 25,000th to “like” its Facebook page at the time of the anniversar­y.

Director Filma G. Brawner said SEI had been at the forefront of delivering services that directly aided in the improvemen­t of science and technology education and, consequent­ly, the economic developmen­t of the country.

During the celebratio­n, the Silver Employees award will be given to those who have been with the institute for 25 years. The Silver Links award will honor SEI partners. A coffee table book featuring the institute’s outstandin­g science scholars for each of its 25 years of existence will also be launched.

The SEI will host the DOST Scholars’ Day among high school students. A forum and the Exhibit on Scholars 25 will showcase the human resources developmen­t program by featuring selected scholars from 1987 to 2012.
