the retirement of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant last year, Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron J ames has emerged as the most popular NBA player in the country in terms of jersey sales.

NBA Philippine­s head Carlo Singson said that James topped the jersey sales in the country since the start of the 2016-2017 season – and that does not include those who are buying imitation jerseys around the country.

The 32-year-old forward, a three-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP, is coming from a stellar season, leading the Cavaliers to its first championsh­ip in 52 years.

Coming in at second place is Golden State Warriors sniper Stephen Curry, followed by Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving, Houston Rockets’ J ames Harden and Chicago Bulls’ Dwyane Wade to complete the top five.

Placing from sixth to tenth places are San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard, Oklahoma City Thunders’ Russel Westbrook, Warriors’ Klay Thompson, Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard and Bulls’ Jimmy Butler.

In terms of team jersey’s sales, Singson said that the 2015 NBA champions Warriors are on top followed by the Cavaliers, the Lakers, which is led by Filipino- American Jordan Clarkson, the Bulls and the Spurs.

Mananquil added that De La Hoya was impressed with Romero after watching his second round knockout of Christian Gonzalez recently at the Belasco Theater in the United States.

“Oscar described Romero as the real deal after seeing his power in the ring,” Mananquil said. “He also said that Romero exceptiona­l power, along with the talent and desire to be a great fighter.”

Du no, who has an impressive 13-1-0, win-loss- draw ring record with 12 knockout wins, for his part said he is thankful to be signed by the famous promotion of De La Hoya.

“I am very thankful to Golden Boy Promotions for giving me a chance to showcase my talent on the big stage,” said Duno. “I also want to thank my team Sanman Boxing for believing in me. I still can’t believe that this is happening to me, God is good.”

At just the age of 21, Duno has accumulate­d an impressive record that represents his speed and skill as a knockout artist with three of his last four wins coming by way of stoppage.

Having turned pro in July 2014, Duno has fought only twice outside the country: Russia in May 2016 and in the United States recently. Duno received a hero’s welcome when he returned home to the Philippine­s following his upset win over Gonzalez./
