Barangay Felisa transactions now electronic
BACOLOD City – Everyday transactions in Barangay Felisa will now be electronic.
Felisa is the first village in the city to have an E-Trans (electronic transaction ), according to Carmelo Orbista, officer- in- charge of the local Department of the Interior and Local Government office.
E-Trans is part of the Barangay Information Management System ( BIMS), which the barangay launched on March 25.
The BIMS is a software designed to support a village’s everyday transactions, manage documents and generate transaction reports.
This will help make the delivery of basic services more efficient, Orbista said.
The Interior department official will meet with other barangay captains to explain the program.
Bacolod City Water District director Mona Dia Jardin is willing to discuss the BIMS with the other village chiefs.
Jar din said the J AS consulting firm introduced her to the system when she was still Felisa barangay captain in October last year.
Learning that Felisa will be the system’s pioneer host and recognizing the importance of computerized barangay transactions, she accepted the offer.
The system will facilitate easy access to and management of transactions, Jardin stressed.
Corrections to details in certifications, clearances and barangay information, among others, may now be easily applied, she said.
Barangay officials may also easily identify anyone transacting with them if the latter are a registered voter because the system is linked with t he Commission on Elections.
Using the system entails a monthly payment, Jardin said.
Councilor Em Ang said she will file a resolution urging other villages, especially the big ones like Villa monte, Mandalagan and Mansilingan, to adapt the same technology./
