‘REROUTE’ IS CINDY MIRANDA’S BEST MOVIE TO DATE
BEAUTY queen-turned-actress Cindy Miranda has had a great acting run since her first lead in the 2019 movie “Adan.” Since then, her movie studio Viva has been entrusting numerous titular roles to her, among them “Nerisa,” “House Tour,” and “My Husband, My Lover.” This 2022, however, the Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2013 queen is bent to up her game beginning with “Reroute,” which she believes is her “best movie yet.”
“Ito pong Reroute kakaiba po ito. This one is my most intense movies lalo na sa drama,” the capable actress said in a video conference. “Kapag magagaling yung mga kasama mo, gumagaling ka din. Nakita ko yung sarili ko dito sa movie and iba talaga. Sobrang fluid ko, sobrang dalang dala ko yung emotions ko sa movie na ito. I can’t wait to watch it myself.”
With no false modesty from Miranda, she added that she is confident to endorse Reroute if anyone asks which of her movies is a must-see.
A sexy-suspense thriller, Reroute stars a bevy of versatile actors, most impressively, 2021’s Venice Film Festival Best Actor John Arcilla and International Emmy Awards nominee Sid Lucero, including Viva prime actress Nathalie Hart.
With such acting bigwigs, Miranda admitted she had to level up her game on set, eager to prove to her co-actors, Viva and audiences come January 21 that she is deserving of Reroute’s central character.
“Before ako dumating sa set, tinanong ko yung sarili ko kung kaya ko bang makipagsabayan sa kanila. I was very excited kasi ang ganda ng script at ang ganda ng kwento. Palagi ko naman pong ginagalingan pero dito sa movie na ito, siguro mas ginalingan ko pa, at mas naging seryoso pa ako sa craft ko,” the 31-year-old enthused.
“Sabi ko nga ang galing kasi nakarating ako doon sa emotion na gusto kong ipakita. Minsan kasi ang hirap but it showed in this one maybe because ang gagaling ng mga co-actors ko,” she continued.
Miranda is grateful to Arcilla and Lucero for inspiring her and making her fall deeper in love with acting. She noted, however, that she sees more of herself in Arcilla when it comes to work ethics.
“Both Sir John and Kuya Sid are award-winning actors, pero magkaiba ang personalities nila. Kami ni Sir John, parehong seryoso, naka-isolate talaga kami before each take. Ako, I don’t talk or make kuwento kasi I want to be in my character right away and I don’t want to be distracted. Si Kuya Sid, sobrang makuwento siya, masayahin, relaxed lang siya. Maingay siya kaya nasasabihan siya ng ‘Sshhh,’” Miranda laughed.
“But I learned a lot from them. Kasi they shared with me their acting experiences and I really saw myself in Sir John. Masyado siyang focused. Nagpa-picture nga ako agad sa kanya kasi siya si Heneral Luna,” she added.
With Reroute now part of her filmography, Miranda hopes the movie will raise her reputation as a worthy actress and not just a sexy star when she started out.
“I’ve always wanted to become an actress, a serious actress. A sexy actress is not a bad thing to be--it doesn’t sound bad to me-but I also want to become a very good dramatic actress. Gusto ko din sana makagawa ng movie na talagang wholesome lang and I hope panoorin yon ng tao without the sexy.”
Sure of the direction she is taking in her career, thanks largely to Viva, Cindy Miranda is convinced Reroute will bring her closer to her lifelong goal.
Directed by Lawrence Fajardo, Reroute streams on Vivamax beginning Friday.
