Bong Go sends aid to Metro Manila fire victims
THE office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go sent aid to two fire-hit communities in Metro Manila in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“Wherever you are in the Philippines, if you are a victim of fire, or floods or earthquake, I will go to you to provide help, listen to your concerns and cheer you up. Just be patient and do not worry.
If you need help, just tell us — President Rodrigo Duterte and I are willing to help you to the best of our abilities,” Go said in a video message.
The senator’s outreach team distributed cash, food, vitamins, masks and face shields to fire victims in Barangay Dagat-Dagatan in Caloocan City and Barangay Roxas in Quezon City.
DSWD personnel also distributed help.
“We are very grateful to Sir Bong Go and his staff. We were unaware that our situation has already reached the attention of the senator. We never expected that we would receive assistance from him, especially now that the situation is hard. We will utilize the aid given to us to start a new beginning,” said 46-year-old fire victim Jocela Mollejon.
Go said those who have injuries or suffering from other health concerns visit a Malasakit Center.
Malasakit centers are one-stop shops pioneered by Go to help indigent patients. Malasakit centers are working closely with the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
A total of 102 Malasakit centers have already been established nationwide, including those in East Avenue Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Novaliches District Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center and Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.
