The Energy department made the extension after the government declared the country under a state of calamity because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
To stem the spread of the highly contagious respiratory disease in the country, Metro Manila and other parts of the country have been put under community quarantine.
Under Section 23 of Republic Act 9136, or the “Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001,” DUs are mandated to prepare and submit their DDPs to the DoE and, in the case of power cooperatives, to the agency through the NEA.
The DoE, under Department Circular DC2004- 02- 002, prescribed the guidelines on crafting a five-year distribution plan.
