CLOY, of course, as everyone knows — unless you’ve quarantined under a rock — is Netflix’ persistent No. 1 show in the Philippines, the Korean drama series “Crash Landing on You.” Not only is the rom-com a hit in these streaming shores by the way, but all across the globe as well. It’s also credited for converting nonKDrama followers into rabid fans amid this time of social distancing in the Philippines.
CLOY follows star-crossed lovers Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), an heiress of a multi-industry company from South Korea, and Ri Jeong-hyuk (Hyun Bin), a captain in the Korean People’s Army and a powerful family in North Korea. They meet when Yoon Se-ri, who goes paragliding

By now, most everyone has binge-watched CLOY already and probably re- binge watching it again with close to two weeks of quarantine left. Definitely making superstars of Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin in the Philippines, The Manila Times Entertainment thought it best to give CLOY fans a treat with this issue, especially with cabin fever already scorching in homes across the island.

The stars
Son Ye-jin (@yejinhand on Instagram) is a 38-year-old actress who is lauded for her range in portraying characters across different genres. Throughout her career, she has played a con artist, a reporter, a divorcee, a hostage negotiator, and more. After first appearing in a supporting role back in 2000, she rose to fame after starring in a number of romance films and series. She has won a number of Best Actress awards at the Buil Film Awards and the Busan Film Critics’ Awards for her role in the 2016 political thriller “The Truth Beneath.” Apart from these, she also has worldwide box office hits to her credit, among them “A Moment to Remember” which was a hit in Japan and Korea; “April Snow,” a hit in Japan and China; and “The Last Princess” which grossed $ 40.35 million around the globe.
Son Ye-jin actually first worked with CLOY leading man Hyun Bin in the 2018 film “The Negotiation,” and her Instagram feed has been sparking rumors that they are a couple on and off screen. Although Hyun Bin is not on Instagram, he has a large fanbase and is one of the most in-demand South Korean celebrities.
In 2005, he rose to stardom with the romantic comedy series “My Lovely Sam Soon.” Although he had a few projects that tanked, not to mention a hiatus from the biz when he went on mandatory military service, Hyun Bin continued to be a lauded actor given his versatility and wide range of emotions.
Noted in his filmography are roles in “Come Rain, Come Shine” and “Late Autumn,” which were screened at the Berlin International Film Festival, garnering him positive reviews from international publications.
Hyun Bin’s popularity has also taken him to fan meet after fan meet throughout Asia, allowing him to establish his own talent management agency.

Seo Ji Hye has starred in numerous films, series and music videos, with CLOY as her most recent successful title. Meanwhile, her Instagram feed is filled with her photos against picturesque backdrops as well as posts about her favorite eats and beauty products.
Another cause of conflict in the series and main cast member is Gu Seung-joon, played by Kim Jung-hyun. The actor is not on

Instagram but is still a hot topic on social media. His CLOY role is a lower-class businessman from South Korea, who was rejected by Yoon Se-ri for an arranged marriage. Intelligent and strategic, however, he was able to steal money from Yoon Se-ri’s business and thereafter runs off to North Korea. By playing a the con-man role, Kim Jung- hyun has been noted for his impressive ability to create a character deep layers.

A newcomer who just started acting in 2018, CLOY is actually his first series in the role of Park Kwang-beom, a staff sergeant of the North Korean army who is oblivious to his male model good looks. The young actor proves to be charming in real life as well, based on his posts, which have already garnered 633,000 followers.
Next up is Ha Seok- jin (@ haseokjin on Instagram), who’s been part of many different series and films before joining CLOY. He plays Ri Jeong- hyuk’s older brother, Ri Moo-hyuk. Also part of the army, he plays a huge part in the series cliffhanger.
Finally, yet another account worth a follow is that of Yoo Subin
(@subinyoo on Instagram) who plays Kim Ju-muk on CLOY, a corporal in the North Korean army. His character is a big fan of K-Dramas and watches them while at work. The 27- year- old started acting in 2016 and has been posting a lot of behind the scenes content on his page.
