Filipino businesses invited to trade with the world via Hong Kong
THE Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC) recently visited Manila and invited Filipino to take advantage of Hong Kong as a global trading hub and trade – and expand their businesses – with the world using its international fairs and platforms.
Filipino exhibitors have also actively participated in these fairs by forming group pavilions.
HKTDC Exhibitions Manager May Wong, sales manager, encouraged Filipino companies to capitalize on the exhibiting and sourcing opportunities from HKTDC’s fairs, particularly in the areas of gifts, houseware and jewelry, as well as clothing.
Filipino buyers attending the HKTDC fairs has been increasing over the past years. There were some 7,000 Filipino buyers visiting the 2016 fairs, recording a 4.3 percent growth compared to the previous year. Fairs such as Gifts & Premium, Houseware and Jewellery have been particularly well-received among Filipino buyers.
Among the strong portfolio of more than 30 international exhibitions that HKTDC organizes in Hong Kong annually, 11 form the largest marketplaces of their kind in Asia, with gifts, watches and clocks, electronics and lighting being the largest of their kind in the world. In 2016, HKTDC fairs attracted more than 36,000 exhibitors and over 711,000 - ing the city’s reputation as Asia’s trade fair capital. Among them were more than 910 exhibitors and over 34,300 buyers from ASEAN.
Centerstage, a glittering promotion platform and launch pad for fashion brands and collections, will be held from September 6 to 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The trade show provides a launch pad for international, especially Asian, fashion brands and designers to present their collections.
For the general public, a citywide campaign “Hong Kong in Fashion” will be launched in late August with a range of events, and Centerstage itself will also open to public visitors aged 12 or above free of charge on September 9, to promote brands to consumers directly.
Meanwhile, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will be on March 1 to 5, 2018 while the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will be on February 27, to March 3, 2018 and the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair will be on April 27 to 30, 2018.
