Police tracing source of local beauty queen’s drugs stash
CEBU CITY — Police here are tracing the source of the high-grade marijuana and the party drugs seized from a former beauty pageant contestant and a 24-year-old accomplice.
According to Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Chief Sr. Supt. Royina Garma, authorities are now determining where Teri Marina Colmenares, a former Binibining Cebu pageant contestant, and Nicole Allan Casiño, got the marijuana and party drugs that were seized from them in separate drug stings last Saturday.
First to be apprehended was Casino, who yielded seven packs of a party drug, identified as lysergic acid diethylamide. He then pointed to Colmenares as his supplier of the party drug.
In a buy-bust operation, the 22year-old Colmenares was subsequently nabbed while in the possession of seven packs of ‘kush’, a high-grade marijuana variant.
Garma said the police suspect that there was a group behind Colmenares and Casiño since the seized illegal drugs were believed to be imported.
“There are indications that the party drug is imported. This is our first time to see this kind of a party drug. It is just a strip of paper that will be placed on the tongue to feel its effects,” said Garma.
Since the party drug is just a strip of paper, it can be easily transported, Garma noted.
“It was sent through a courier. It is easy to transport since they just place it in an envelope, mix it with documents so it won’t be detected,” said Garma.
The CCPO chief said the police will be making arrangements with courier companies to prevent the proliferation of the party drug.
Colmenares, who was detained at CCPO’s female custodial facility, was scheduled to undergo inquest proceedings yesterday afternoon at the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office.
Colmenares, who represented Carmen town in this year’s Binibining Cebu pageant, continued to stay mum on her arrest.
“She is not cooperating in the investigation. She’s not talking to us. We are hoping that we could get important information from the cell phone that had been seized from her but she refuses to give the password of the cell phone,” said Garma.
