No mercy for cop in rape case – PNP

- By MARTIN A. SADONGDONG

The rookie policeman who allegedly raped the daughter of a couple arrested for drug-related offenses will be punished with the full force of the law if proven guilty, Philippine National Police chief Director Oscar Albayalde reiterated on Monday.

Police Officer 1 Eduardo Valencia of the Manila Police District (MPD)'s Sampaloc Police Station is being accused of raping a 15-yearold girl whose parents are facing drug charges.

"I'd like to assure the public that we will show no mercy if siya ay mapatunayan na guilty dyan (if proven that he is guilty). Both administratively and criminally, he will be charged," Albayalde told reporters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Albayalde said he has yet to talk to National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) Director Guillermo Eleazar, who confronted and berated Valencia last Sunday, following his arrest in Pasig City.

Investigation showed that Valencia brought the victim to a motel in Santa Mesa, Manila for sexual favors in exchange of her parents' release.

Accordingly, a medico-legal examination showed lacerations on her private part.

This was confirmed by Eleazar when he met the suspect at Sampaloc Police Station.

Albayalde said internal cleansing within the PNP is being sustained to weed out rogue police officers who continue to engage in illegal activities.
