Undergrads find hope – and jobs – at MB Job Fair

wo undergradu­ate high school best friends were announced hired on the spot an hour after the official opening of the third leg of MB Classified­s Job Fair happened last May 15 and 16 at SM North Edsa Skydome.

Among 1,073 people who visited the job fair, Bryan Reljay Crisostomo and Chester Jay Rea were the first two lucky job-seekers who landed a job during the fair. Both were hired as assistant bakers by French Baker, one of the 35 exhibitors at the MB Job Fair.

It was a big break for the two, who now have the opportunit­y to earn a living to support their families despite being both undergradu­ate students. The pair said that they did not expect the speedy processing of their applicatio­ns. They told the Manila Bulletin that they did not even believe at first that right after a short interview and an assessment they will come home with a sure job.

Determined and full of hope, Crisostomo, 24, shared in his first interview, how excited he was for the new work waiting for him. He excitedly shared how eager he was to get a job for his family. He shared that he had to quit college when his father died, and how, at 20 years old, he had to become the breadwinne­r of the family.

For Crisostomo, nothing matters more than family. He will do everything he can and he is willing to dedicate his whole life for his family; even sacrificin­g his own happiness.

He said that one of the most difficult decisions he had to make was to quit college. It was not an easy decision for him, especially because he is aware of the value and importance of a college degree when it comes to seeking employment. But the lack of a college degree did not stop him from believing and pushing himself to make his and his family’s life better. He believes that his
