12-M reward for each cop in Ozamiz mass killing – Duterte

- By ARGYLL CYRUS B. GEDUCOS

President Duterte has offered a 12million reward for any information leading to the arrest of policemen involved in the mass killing in Ozamiz City which allegedly involves the Parojinog clan.

The offer was made following

the discovery of the remains of a number of civilians buried behind the barangay hall of Barangay Cogon in Ozamiz City last week.

Duterte made the announcement during his speech at the 116th Police Service Anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City Wednesday afternoon.

The President also said he will visit Ozamiz City to warn policemen linked to the Parojinogs, particularly to Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. who was killed along with 15 others in a police raid last month.

"I will be visiting Ozamiz. I will not tell you when, but I will warn the policemen there," Duterte said.

“Yung kasama ni Parojinog (Those with Mayor Parojinog) and his cahoots who are members of the PNP, you will have your comeuppance. I will see to it that you too will get a fair share of (justice)," he added.

According to Duterte, the police involved in the killing or dumping of bodies in the said mass grave can take a leave of absence but he made sure to track them down.

‘R2-million per head’ "The policemen who are now shortlisted in the killing of so many civilians buried in a cemetery there at the back of the barangay hall, each of those policemen now carry on their head now, I am announcing, R2 million per head. And you are free to go on leave," he said.

“R2 million per head – dead or alive. Better dead because I have to pay for the funeral parlor. That is an added expense. I'd rather buy rice for the Filipino people," the President added.

Ozamiz Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, citing information from residents, said the Parojinogs allegedly ordered summary executions and had the bodies dumped in mass graves.

Espenido, who received an individual award from Duterte yesterday for his efforts in antiillegal drugs operations, said hundreds of residents have reported missing relatives who could have been buried in mass graves.

On Friday, Espenido led a team to excavate a well in Barangay Cogon to verify reports of bodies being buried there last month. The team discovered pieces of clothing and bones.

Most bodies were said to belong to robbery victims, nonlocals who went to Ozamiz, and military and police assets.
