Local BMW reports 39% growth in 2015
Sales of BMW posted a record 38.5 percent growth in sales in 2015 marking its dominance and leader in the Philippines’ luxury automotive segment for the 13th consecutive year.
Maricar Parco, president of local BMW distributor Asian Carmakers Corp. ( ACC), reported the company sold a record of 1,000 units in 2015 or 38.5 percent, more than doubling the 2014 growth of 11 percent. ACC is a wholly owned Filipino company under the Alvarez Group of Companies, and is headed by ACC Chairman Emeritus, Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez.
“This growth was fueled largely by the popularity of the compact executive automobile BMW 5 Series and supported by sales of the compact sport sedan BMW 3 Series and the Sports Activity Vehicle BMW X3,” Parco said.
The introduction of new models such as the first-ever BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW 2 Series Coupe, allnew BMW X6, and the new BMW 1 Series also drove the brand’s growth in the country.
BMW’s participation in significant events such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, and industry exhibitions such as the annual Manila International Auto Show ( MIAS) helped increase demand for the brand and further expanded its market reach while providing a holistic and unique luxury experience. The annual BMW Xpo selling exhibition also allowed the brand to showcase its complete lineup to the Philippine market for the first time. (BCM)
