Gasoline variant returns and people love it

-

SsangYong Philippines reinvigorates the subcompact crossover market with the return of the Tivoli (“I- lov- it” in reverse) Gas Sport variant.

Slotting in between the range- topping Tivoli 1.6- liter Diesel Premium and the 1.6- liter Diesel Sport in specs and features, the new gasoline engine offering stands out to deliver the smooth and refined driving experience that car buyers and crossover enthusiasts are very familiar with.

Now sporting a fresh, eye- catching design, the SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport boasts a confident stance that undoubtedly deserves a second look.

The Korean carmaker’s latest offering is poised to make Tivoli customers feel reinvigorated as the peppy 1.6- liter e- XDGi160 gasoline engine makes a comeback.

Crossover buyers will enjoy a clear advantage in space and road presence over other market offerings with the Tivoli Gas Sport’s class-leading dimensions. This same space benefit — which all Tivoli variants share — will give its owners more cargo and people-carrying room for their daily needs.

“The new SsangYong Tivoli lineup is our answer to the growing needs of many car buyers for reasonably priced, feature- rich alternatives in the growing subcompact crossover space,” company president Japheth Castillo said.

The latest SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport features one of the longest wheelbase measurements in its class at 2,600mm. This affords more legroom and cargo space for small families, ensuring their comfort over long journeys.

Standing tall with its 167- mm ground clearance, Tivoli lovers will enjoy the extra breathing room which will allow them to tackle a greater variety of road surfaces. Sporting 18- inch wheels similar to the top- of- the- line Tivoli Diesel Premium, the newest Tivoli variant will enjoy the same dynamic profile of its top- tier sibling.

Inside, airy black fabric seats make up its living space as it shares the same 60/ 40 folding seat option as with the rest of the lineup. A leather steering wheel with audio and trip controls is likewise shared throughout this crossover’s range. While a color- adjustable instrument cluster — similar to its top- spec — provides essential information the driver needs.

An eight- inch touchscreen LCD Smart Audio, Bluetoothequipped infotainment system with Carplay and Android Auto connectivity entertains occupants. This same Diesel Premium system keeps the driver and passengers connected to the outside world as it seamlessly makes use of the mobile phone’s navigation, call, messaging and music streaming functions throughout every drive.

Its potent 1.6- liter e- XDGi160 gasoline motor — rated at 128hp and churning out a generous 160N- m of torque — is mated to a responsive six- speed automatic tranny. This gives the new variant its spritely driving dynamic which many early Tivoli owners have come to enjoy.

It also comes standard with dual airbags, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, a burglar alarm and a rear view camera. Along with the brand’s three- year free PMS and five- year vehicle warranty, the variant makes for a compelling choice in the compact crossover market today — especially considering its price.

Tagged at P970,000 — P150,000 less than its actual P1,120,000 suggested retail price — the SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport is set to rank high on crossover buyers’ shopping list as it started rolling out last month at all its dealerships nationwide.
