K-Pop group Pentagon’s leader and main vocalist Hui was forced to postpone his mandatory military service, which was supposed to start on 3 December, after being exposed to a person who tested positive for COVID-19 during a show broadcast on 28 November.

He is currently on self-quarantine.

The breakout of COVID- 19 cases in the South Korean entertainment scene has led to K-Pop artists undergoing testing and self-isolation and events postponed.

The militar y enlistment of Hui

— who was born Lee Hoe-taek — will be moved to a later date. “Once he finishes self-quarantine, Hui will fulfill his duties as a member of Pentagon until his enlistment,” his agency Cube Entertainment announced.

Fans are glad that Hui can still perform at Pentagon’s online concert, “We L:VE,” originally scheduled 29 November but moved to 13 December.

Also recently, another Pentagon member, Yeo One, underwent voluntary testing after being in the same location with an infected person.

His test results came back negative on 28 November but he’s still undergoing self-quarantine. All Pentagon members will undergo testing and self-isolation as well.

On 28 November, Hui performed in the show Music Core with Up10tion’s Bitto and Kogyeol, who later tested COVID-positive.

To ease the worry of fans, Hui posted a message to Pentagon’s fandom, Universe in the community platform UCUBE: “You guys have been worrying so much. We are getting along well and healthily, thanks to you.”

Hui will be the second Pentagon member to undergo mandatory military service, after Jinho who enlisted on 11 May. Hui will be serving as a public service worker four weeks after receiving basic training.

Jinho is expected to wind up his service in November 2021.

Pentagon debuted in 2016 with nine members: Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino and Wooseok.
